Shalom, everyone, I'm Monte Judah with Lion and Lamb Ministries, bringing you the latest Messianic World Update. Today's date is Friday, July 31, 2026.
This week, the conflict with Iran has again demonstrated how quickly military actions, negotiations, and threats can shift from one day to the next. U.S. forces paused their bombing campaign against Iran briefly, apparently in hope of pursuing negotiations, but Iran’s renewed attacks against Gulf interests and U.S. forces brought the fighting back into focus.
Iran fired ballistic missiles at the U.S. base in Jordan, and we are thankful that those missiles were intercepted. Yet, these events should remind us that this is not merely a matter of political maneuvering or news headlines. Men and women are in harm’s way, nations are being destabilized, and the entire region is living under the shadow of a wider war.
The ongoing pattern of limited campaigns, pauses, and renewed attacks has created great frustration. A strategy that repeatedly stops short of bringing an enemy’s threats to an end only encourages that enemy to wait, regroup, and strike again. Iran appears determined to outlast its opponents while continuing its pursuit of regional influence and, more seriously, a nuclear weapon.
One significant development has been the attack on a key railroad bridge connecting Iran with supply routes from Russia and China. Iran has felt the effects of a maritime blockade, but land routes have remained important channels for material support. Restricting those routes could have consequences far beyond a single military operation. It may indicate that the discussion is moving toward limiting Iran’s ability to sustain this conflict over time.
There is also discussion of establishing an Iranian government in exile. Whether that proposal develops remains to be seen, but it reflects an important truth: conflicts such as this require a clear understanding of what a lasting conclusion should look like. It is not enough simply to respond to the latest attack. Leaders must consider what will bring an end to the threat and what will give ordinary Iranian citizens hope for a different future.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington also drew attention this week. He met with President Trump following the funeral for Senator Graham, and reports indicated that their meeting was constructive. Their discussion centered on the conflict with Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.
Israel has been clear about its position. It cannot permit Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon, nor can it wait indefinitely for others to decide what action should be taken. Israel has repeatedly shown that it will defend its people when its very existence is at stake. As believers, we should remember that Israel’s survival is not ultimately dependent upon the speeches of presidents or the calculations of nations. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is faithful to His covenant, and He is the One who watches over Israel.
At the same time, we must pray for wisdom for leaders in America and Israel. War weariness is growing in our country, as it often does when conflicts extend longer than people expected. The cost of war is felt by soldiers, families, businesses, and communities. It is easy for people to become discouraged when they do not see a quick resolution.
In Gaza, the Board of Peace has reportedly assembled a force intended to disarm Hamas. This is a necessary issue, because there can be no true peace while Hamas remains armed and committed to violence. Israel has rightly maintained that it cannot withdraw from Gaza while Hamas retains the ability to threaten Israeli citizens. There may be many proposals and negotiations, but security cannot be built on empty assurances.
Saudi Arabia may also be preparing for greater action against the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The Houthis have threatened vital shipping routes, and the Straits connecting the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden are critical to the movement of goods and oil. If Saudi forces move forward, the conflict could expand further, with serious consequences for the entire region.
In Judea and Samaria, tensions continue between Palestinian villages and Israeli communities. The situation has become increasingly difficult, with armed groups confronting one another and the IDF seeking to prevent additional violence. We should be careful to understand that these matters are never as simple as the headlines make them appear. The people living in the land face real hardship, fear, and instability.
The Scriptures instruct us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. That remains our responsibility. We should pray for the safety of U.S. service members, for the soldiers and people of Israel, for wisdom among leaders, and for the protection of innocent people caught in conflict. We should also pray that the God of Israel will bring His purposes to pass and turn hearts toward righteousness, repentance, and true peace.
