Shalom, everyone, I’m Monte Judah with Lion and Lamb Ministries, bringing you the latest Messianic World Update. Today’s date is Friday, January 23rd of the year 2026.
This week has been filled with developments that underscore just how rapidly the nations are moving, how fragile the current order truly is, and how closely world events continue to align with the prophetic warnings found in Scripture. As believers in Yeshua who take the whole counsel of God seriously, we must watch carefully, pray diligently, and remain grounded in biblical truth rather than media narratives.
One of the most significant events this week was President Trump’s appearance in Davos, Switzerland. There, he announced the formation of what he calls the “Board of Peace,” an international body intended to oversee negotiations and outcomes related to Gaza following the war. Nearly every nation was invited to participate — including eight Muslim nations and even Russia. Notably absent were Iran and the Palestinian Authority. Israel, represented by Prime Minister Netanyahu, was invited and agreed to take part.
What we witnessed in Davos was more than diplomacy; it was the projection of raw geopolitical power. President Trump demonstrated what I often refer to as a leadership power formula — not just possessing authority, but ensuring that everyone knows it. In many ways, this new Board of Peace appears to be supplanting the United Nations, which has steadily lost credibility due to its consistent bias against Israel. The UN is stepping back while this new technocratic structure steps forward, raising serious questions about global governance and sovereignty moving forward.
While Gaza was the stated purpose of this board, the media’s attention shifted quickly to Greenland. Despite protests and objections from Denmark and European leaders, President Trump emphasized that no military force would be used and that a deal would be reached. Reports now suggest that a framework agreement may involve the United States purchasing Greenland outright — though at this point that remains unconfirmed. If true, it would significantly impact NATO defense strategy, particularly regarding Russia, and further demonstrate America’s intention to secure strategic territory by economic rather than military means.
Returning to Gaza, the situation remains unresolved. Hamas continues to refuse disarmament, and the body of the last Israeli hostage killed on October 7th has still not been returned. President Trump reiterated his ultimatum: Hamas has until March 1st to disarm or face decisive military action. Various proposals are being discussed — demilitarization, amnesty, exile of leadership — but the reality is that Hamas fighters in Gaza have nowhere to go and no intention of surrendering. Ceasefire violations continue, Israel responds, and tragically civilians are caught in the middle. This cycle persists because Hamas refuses to abandon terror.
Meanwhile, attention is increasingly turning toward Iran. Protests there have weakened the Islamic regime, though not yet toppled it. Thousands are reported dead or arrested. The regime survives primarily through the support of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Israel and the United States appear aligned in assessing that Iran’s missile capabilities pose an existential threat to Israel. Military planning is underway, with U.S. naval assets moving into the region. The question is no longer if Iran will be struck, but when and what happens afterward.
Regime change in Iran would create enormous uncertainty. There is no clear successor government, no unifying leader, and the risk of chaos is significant. Yet Iran’s current system is already collapsing economically and socially. Scripture reminds us that nations rise and fall according to God’s purposes, and Iran’s future will not be decided by men alone.
In Israel itself, internal pressures continue. The debate over drafting Haredi students into the IDF remains unresolved, with protests ongoing. Hezbollah continues to refuse disarmament, prompting regular Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon. Of particular prophetic interest, Jews were permitted this week to pray openly on the Temple Mount using prayer books — a historic first. This development should not be overlooked, as the Temple Mount remains central to the end-time prophetic narrative.
Israel has also expelled UNRWA from Jerusalem, accusing the agency of direct cooperation with Hamas. Evidence uncovered during the war supports these claims. This marks another step in Israel’s rejection of international bodies that work against its security and sovereignty.
Politically, Israel is already looking ahead to elections next year. Polls suggest a potential coalition involving Bennett, Lapid, and Eisenkot could threaten Netanyahu’s leadership. Whether such an alliance can overcome internal rivalries remains to be seen, but a shift in Israel’s government is a real possibility.
Finally, I want to address a troubling incident here in the United States. In Saint Paul, Minnesota, protesters disrupted a church service, violating constitutional protections for religious freedom. This is a warning sign. Opposition that begins as political protest often expands into outright hostility toward believers who uphold Judeo-Christian values and stand with Israel. If such actions are not prosecuted, it sends a dangerous signal that lawlessness against people of faith will be tolerated.
We are living in increasingly dangerous times. Violence, lawlessness, and deception are rising — just as Yeshua warned. These truly are days reminiscent of Noah. We must pray for our country, for Israel, and for believers everywhere. God’s judgment is approaching, and our responsibility is to remain faithful, watchful, and obedient.
