Shalom, everyone, I'm Monte Judah with Lion and Lamb Ministries, bringing you the latest Messianic World Update. Today's date is Friday, August 7th of the year 2026.
Iran Negotiations Remain Uncertain
At the beginning of this week, we were anticipating reports of a possible massive U.S. strike on Iran. Then, quite suddenly, the strike was called off. The Gulf states reportedly urged restraint, Iran appeared willing to return to negotiations, and there was renewed talk of opening the Straits of Hormuz and addressing Iran’s nuclear program.
As the week has continued, however, promised deadlines have come and gone. First it was Monday or Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday, and now we are still hearing that an agreement may come “very soon.” The truth is that there is little confidence any announced agreement will be durable. Iran has a long history of making commitments and then breaking them when it serves its purposes.
President Trump has reportedly become more directly involved in the effort, expressing frustration with the process and those carrying it forward. While he has said that talks are going well, the United States is not dealing directly with Iran in the normal sense. Oman is serving as an intermediary, and the situation remains complicated.
We should be praying for wisdom for our leaders. The Scriptures teach us that the nations rage and the peoples devise vain things, but the Almighty remains sovereign over the affairs of men. We should never be naïve about a regime that has repeatedly threatened Israel, America, and its neighbors. At the same time, we should pray that unnecessary loss of life may be avoided and that evil plans will be restrained.
Military Readiness in the Region
There have also been reports questioning whether the United States has sufficient interceptor missiles and precision weapons available should the conflict with Iran escalate. The THAAD system in Israel, Patriot interceptors, cruise missiles, and other precision weapons have all been used extensively.
I do not believe we should assume that the United States has no ability to defend itself or its allies. Recent attacks against American positions have been intercepted, and U.S. forces continue protecting Gulf partners. However, it is reasonable to recognize that prolonged conflict consumes resources, and military inventories must be replenished.
The United States has not withdrawn from the region. Forces remain in place, and there are indications that additional resources are being positioned to provide the President with a range of military options. The question is not whether military action remains possible; the question is when, or if, that option will be exercised.
The Strait of Hormuz remains especially important. The U.S. blockade has reportedly turned back dozens of commercial vessels attempting to move in and out of Iranian ports. Economic pressure may weaken the regime, but it is unlikely by itself to resolve the deeper threat posed by Iran’s rulers, its military infrastructure, and its hostility toward Israel.
Hamas and the Question of Disarmament
The Board of Peace has proposed a plan to disarm Hamas in Gaza. At first glance, that may sound encouraging. But when we look at the details, the proposal falls far short of what genuine disarmament must mean.
The idea that Hamas would merely place weapons in storage under the oversight of outside technical representatives is not true disarmament. Israel is correct to insist that Gaza cannot be left with rockets, mortars, machine guns, RPGs, pistols, or any remaining terrorist military structure under the name of Hamas.
Israel has made its position plain: it will not simply withdraw and leave a future threat in place. The memory of October 7 remains very real. Israel continues to identify those who participated in the murders, kidnappings, and atrocities committed that day. Those responsible should not be permitted to disappear into the population, receive a new political title, or return to building the next generation of terror.
From a biblical perspective, a nation has the right and the responsibility to defend its people. Israel is not required to surrender its security to an agreement that leaves its enemies armed and ready to strike again.
A Measure of Progress in Lebanon
There are more hopeful reports coming from Lebanon. Lebanese civilians are returning to some homes, Hezbollah has been pushed back in certain areas, and Israel continues uncovering tunnels and terrorist infrastructure. The Lebanese army is moving into areas Israel has cleared, though it remains limited in its ability to confront Hezbollah directly.
This is still an ongoing conflict, and sadly there have been losses among IDF soldiers. Yet compared with the continuing threats from Hamas and Iran, there are signs of step-by-step progress in Lebanon. We should continue to pray for protection for Israel’s soldiers, for the safety of civilians on both sides of the border, and for the removal of Hezbollah’s ability to threaten northern Israel.
Saudi Arabia and the Houthis
The conflict involving Saudi Arabia and the Houthis is also intensifying. Saudi Arabia has been preparing for a possible land campaign, while the Houthis have already begun attacking Saudi and Yemeni government forces. Reports indicate significant casualties, and Saudi Arabia is now preparing not only for threats from the south, but also for possible involvement by Iranian-backed elements from Iraq.
This is another reminder that the Middle East is not becoming more peaceful. The conflict is spreading through connected alliances, militias, and regimes. Iran’s influence reaches far beyond its own borders, and its proxy forces continue to create instability throughout the region.
Security Challenges in Samaria
Tensions also remain high in Samaria, often called the West Bank. Clashes between Palestinian residents and Israeli communities continue, and Israeli citizens traveling through dangerous areas have been attacked. The IDF is stretched thin as it addresses threats in Gaza, Lebanon, and other locations.
Israel is now considering additional bases closer to areas of recurring conflict so that forces can respond more quickly and prevent violence before it spreads. This is an understandable security measure in a region where threats can develop very quickly.
Please continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for the safety of Israel, for American servicemen and women in harm’s way, and for discernment among all who are making decisions in these difficult days. We are watching a world under increasing strain, but our confidence is not in governments, negotiations, or military strength alone. Our confidence is in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who keeps His covenant and watches over His people.
