July 26th, 2024 | Messianic World Update | Biden's Withdrawal, Kamala Harris Candidacy, and Middle East Conflict
Shalom everyone, I'm Monte Judah with Lion and Lamb Ministries. Welcome to this edition of Messianic World Update. Today’s date is Friday, July 26 of the year 2024. Let’s dive into this week’s critical news.
Joe Biden has announced that he will not be running for re-election. Despite his earlier affirmations of running, his recent debate performance with Donald Trump and subsequent pressures from leading Democrats have led him to step back. Rumors of invoking the 25th Amendment to oust him as well as a lack of support from the party’s elite led to President Biden’s decision.
Consequently, he has passed the torch to Vice President Kamala Harris, who now appears to be the new Democratic candidate, pending official nomination at the Democratic convention.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the United States, addressing a joint meeting of Congress, and meeting with several key figures, including President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris. Former President Donald Trump invited the Prime Minister to meet with him at his home in Florida today.
In the Middle East, the situation remains tense. The Gaza war continues unabated, and the threat of an all-out war with Hezbollah in Lebanon looms large. The dynamics of the Israel-Hamas conflict are complex and frustrating. Despite ongoing negotiations, no substantial progress has been made. Israel still faces significant challenges regarding the ceasefire and hostage negotiations. Hamas continues to leverage international opinions to delay and disrupt the process, placing the blame on Netanyahu and prolonging the conflict. Negotiations are continually exacerbated by statements from global leaders, including Vice President Harris, leading to Hamas’ unending resistance to the process.
The broader geopolitical landscape is equally concerning. The United States' reluctance to pressure Hamas and Iran—the primary instigators behind various terrorist activities in the region—raises questions about its commitment to its ally, Israel. This hesitancy has emboldened other nations, such as Australia and Great Britain, to adopt similar stances, further isolating Israel.
Domestically, anti-Semitic sentiments are on the rise, with pro-Palestinian protests in Washington, D.C., during the Prime Minister’s speech to Congress, leading to acts of vandalism and flag desecration. The protesters literally took down three United States flags, burned them in the street, and then raised the Palestinian flag on federal property. These actions highlight a disturbing trend of growing hostility toward Israel and the Jewish people. It is imperative that the U.S. government and other democratic institutions address and counteract these sentiments to preserve the integrity and values of the nation.
As we continue to navigate these turbulent times, let us remember the importance of standing with Israel. I urge you all to stay informed and engaged in these critical issues. Pray for Israel, for the hostages and their families, for our nation and its leaders, and for our fellow believers around the world.
