Shalom, everyone, I’m Monte Judah with Lion and Lamb Ministries, bringing you the latest Messianic World Update. Today’s date is Friday, May 15th, 2026.
This week the world continued to move closer toward a broader Middle East conflict, while at the same time, we witnessed events that strongly remind students of prophecy that the nations are aligning exactly as the Scriptures warned they would in the last days. The fragile ceasefire involving Iran appears to be hanging by a thread, Israel’s northern war front continues to intensify, and global leaders are maneuvering politically and militarily in ways that could reshape the entire region.
As believers, we must remember that these events are not random. The Bible repeatedly teaches that the nations will rage, Jerusalem will become the center of controversy, and Israel will stand at the focal point of world attention in the latter days. We are watching these things unfold before our eyes.
The United States rejected Iran’s latest proposal regarding the ceasefire negotiations. President Trump publicly stated that the Iranian counterproposal was unacceptable and failed to meet the requirements previously outlined by the United States. This came just before the President traveled to China for high-level meetings with President Xi and other Chinese officials.
Because much of the senior American leadership traveled overseas during the negotiations, military operations were effectively paused for the week. However, the pause did not bring peace to the region.
The United Arab Emirates launched a direct operation against an Iranian refinery in southern Iran. Reports indicate commandos successfully infiltrated the facility and set portions of the refinery ablaze. Intelligence cooperation from Israel reportedly aided the operation. While rumors circulated that Prime Minister Netanyahu personally traveled to Dubai, those reports were incorrect. However, Mossad leadership was reportedly involved in assisting the UAE operation.
Iran retaliated quickly. One vessel near UAE waters in the Persian Gulf was seized and taken into Iranian control, while another ship operating in the Gulf of Oman was attacked and sunk. These incidents demonstrate once again how vulnerable the region remains and how close the Strait of Hormuz is to becoming a major battlefield.
At the same time, Israel’s conflict with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon continues to intensify. Hezbollah has adapted its tactics, using smaller manually-operated drones to target individual Israeli soldiers. Several IDF troops have reportedly been killed or wounded through these attacks. Israel responded with extensive bombing operations that reportedly eliminated over one hundred Hezbollah operatives and commanders.
Israeli ground forces are also pushing farther north, beyond the Litani River, to dismantle Hezbollah storage facilities and weapons caches. The Israeli leadership clearly intends to eliminate Hezbollah’s ability to threaten northern Israel.
Meanwhile, Gaza remains unresolved. The so-called Board of Peace, established prior to the Iranian conflict, continues discussing reconstruction efforts in northern Gaza. However, no viable international plan exists to disarm Hamas. Even U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee acknowledged publicly that Israel itself will likely have to conduct the operation necessary to remove Hamas from power.
This confirms what many observers already understood: Hamas cannot remain armed if there is ever to be stability in Gaza. Unfortunately, during these delays Hamas has been rebuilding its ranks, recruiting new fighters, and reestablishing control in areas outside Israeli authority. Future operations in Gaza will, therefore, become even more difficult.
Inside Israel, political momentum is growing toward annexation of Judea and Samaria. Several right-wing members of Netanyahu’s government are now openly calling for permanent Israeli sovereignty over the territory commonly referred to as the West Bank. The symbolism surrounding these developments was reinforced this week when an Israeli flag was flown over the Temple Mount under the authority of Israeli Minister of National Security, Ben Gvir.
Israel also announced preparations for tribunal proceedings involving approximately 300 terrorists captured during the October 7th attacks. Israeli leaders stated publicly that execution remains a possible sentence. The comparisons being made to the Nuremberg Trials after World War II reveal how seriously Israel views these atrocities.
Back in Iran, signs of instability continue to grow. Reports suggest increasing economic collapse, growing civilian unrest, and defections within regional provincial structures. Some analysts now believe portions of the Iranian government are nearing total breakdown. Nevertheless, the ideological core of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the regime’s most committed loyalists appear unwilling to surrender under any circumstances.
Military analysts expect renewed U.S. and Israeli operations soon. Strategic targets could include missile storage areas, infrastructure facilities, bridges, power plants, and desalination systems critical to southern Iran’s agricultural economy. If those systems are disabled, severe food shortages could follow, further destabilizing the regime.
There are also growing discussions about possible operations involving Kharg Island, Iran’s primary oil export terminal in the Persian Gulf. If Iran loses the ability to export oil, the regime would suffer a devastating financial blow.
At the same time, Saudi Arabia continues redirecting oil transport routes away from the Strait of Hormuz through western pipeline systems leading to the Red Sea. Additional discussions are underway between the UAE and Oman regarding alternate maritime bypass channels around Hormuz entirely. These moves reveal how regional powers are preparing for long-term instability.
Russia also appears increasingly weakened by its ongoing war in Ukraine. President Putin hinted this week that Russia’s “special military operation” may soon conclude. Growing dissatisfaction inside Russia reflects the tremendous human and economic toll the war has created.
Another disturbing development this week involved allegations published by The New York Times accusing Israeli soldiers of horrific sexual misconduct against Palestinians. Israeli officials strongly condemned the story, stating it was never properly verified and amounted to dangerous propaganda against the Jewish state. The New York Times was eventually forced to admit that it accepted the story on face-value and did not fact-check it. Israel is now preparing legal action against the newspaper for slander and defamation.
Here in America, cultural and political battles continue as well. In Wylie, Texas, a high school student attempting to establish a Young Republicans Club reportedly faced opposition from school administrators, despite other ideological clubs being permitted on campus. The student testified that even posters featuring the American flag were removed. These events reflect the deep spiritual and cultural struggles occurring throughout our nation.
On a more encouraging note, this weekend marks both National Shabbat observances in the United States and Jerusalem Day in Israel. Jerusalem Day commemorates the reunification of Jerusalem under Israeli control following the Six-Day War in 1967. For believers who love Israel and honor the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, this remains a profoundly significant occasion.
President Trump issued a statement encouraging Americans to observe a National Shabbat from sundown May 15th through nightfall May 16th as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. This recognition of biblical Sabbath principles represents a remarkable cultural moment in our nation.
As believers in Messiah, we should use this time to pray fervently for both Israel and the United States. We are living in extraordinary days. The nations are shaking, alliances are shifting, and biblical prophecy continues moving toward fulfillment.
Please continue praying for the peace of Jerusalem, for the protection of Israel, and for wisdom among our leaders. Most importantly, draw closer to the Lord, remain faithful to His commandments, and continue walking in the hope of Messiah Yeshua.
Thank you for joining me for this week’s update.
Shabbat Shalom to all of you.
